Bookmark this page: you might need it in case the chatbox is down...

First of all: the VPRO chatbox is a hobby of some employees so there will never be a guarantee that the box will function perfectly. And you should know that the server which runs the chatbox is also used as a testserver, so the server might run slowly at times or even crash more often than you might expect. Don't get angry...

A number of things might happen when your login fails:

• You applied for an account, but you don't get an email back

You might have made a typing error while submitting your email address. The message with the password is forever lost in cyberspace. You can apply again, but your must choose another nick.
• You do not get a login screen.

The server is probably down. There is nothing you can do, except keep on trying...
• You can log in, but nothing else happens.

The chatprogram itself is down. Again: keep on trying.
• You log in and you receive: 'Authorisation failed'.

This might be due to a number of reasons:
• The combination of your nickname and password is incorrect. Be sure you type the required information correctly. The most common error, besides typing errors, is that your Caps Lock is turned on.
• The server with the password-database is unavailable. Your authorisation cannot be verified and you cannot enter the chatbox. Please try again later.
• This error might also occur when the password-database itself is corrupt. It does not happen often but has occurred a couple of times. If you have used the chatbox in the past, you don't have to apply for a new account. Be patient, and try again later.
• You forgot your password.

Uh-oh. You will have to apply for a new account with a new nickname. You can always change your password into something that is easier to remember.

In case you cannot enter the chatbox you might use Loeki's chatsite. It has only one channel, and you have to apply for account here in the same manner as with the vpro chatbox.

Another possibility: IRC (Internet Relay Chat). In that case you need an IRC-client: mIRC. You can downloadthis program. Install it, connect to an irc-server, e.g. irc.xs4all.nl port:6667, and join channel #vpro.
